Ouch!  It’s the 13th already!  As you can most likely gather, I’ve been a bit behind on posting the last couple of weeks.  But I hope it’saugust not too late to write the August newsletter!  You may have noticed that I missed July’s, but honestly, July was different this year.  For the first time, I attended the Gatlinburg Gathering in the foothills of the Smokey Mountains.  It was a wonderful weekend (most of the concert reviews from that event have been posted except Saturday night – so be looking forward to that in a few days!)  Other things you may find interesting is that my time in Gatlinburg was the only Southern Gospel event/activity I attended that month.  For other reasons, I didn’t get to attend the Steve Hurst School of Music or the Brumley Sing this year.

What will be new on Lynn’s Chronicles in August?
usa, america, united states of, sign, alabama, beautiful, welcome, roadtrip
I spent this past weekend (8-10th) in Anniston, Alabama at the 8th Annual Mark Trammell Quartet Homecoming.  The Homecoming featured the host group, the Mark Trammell Quartet and special guests The Whisnants and Greater Vision.  This year marks the third time I’ve attended the Homecoming and in all honesty, it was the best one yet!  All three groups ushered the Spirit of the Lord into the building every evening and hearing Mark preach on “Who Is This Jesus?” Sunday morning completed the weekend with a stirring challenge from the Word of God.  The dates for next year are August 1-3rd, 2014 and Mark is working hard to secure the same line up with the Whisnants and Greater Vision again.  If you’ve never attended the Mark Trammell Quartet Homecoming or have in the past, I highly recommend you try to make it down for next year!  The concerts are FREE and you couldn’t possibly enjoy yourself more anywhere else!  (In my humble opinion, of course… *smile*)

Later on this month is Silver Dollar City’s Southern Gospel Picnic and I plan on making it down to Branson for a few days during the fest.  The temperatures in Missouri have been surprisingly cool for August and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it will stay that way for the SG Picnic!

So, that’s where my travels have been and will be taking me this month; but that’s not the end of what will be happening on Lynn’s Chronicles!  As you can see, I’m terribly late posting the give-a-way, but we’ll still have one!  (Just have to decide what CD will be up for grabs this month…the “stash” is running low!)  On the other hand, I’m finishing up a CD Review on Karen Peck and New River’s new project Revival.  Revival will be released on August 20th and this is a recording that’s a must have!  I purchased a pre-release at the Gatlinburg Gathering and fell in love with the songs the first listen through.  Something else I picked up in Gatlinburg was Debra Talley’s new book God Moments In Everyday Life.  Be looking for a review of that product in the “Bookshelf” soon!

 Real News…
Yesterday, (the 12th) Mark Trammell, Scott Fowler, Gerald Wolfe, Danny Funderburke and Ernie Haase started recording vocals for the anticipated Cathedral Family Reunion CD in Nashville.

The August issue of SGN Scoops has included an article I wrote on the Gatlinburg Gathering in their magazine this month.  When the issue is released, you can check it out, HERE, once again, the story is COMPLETELY different than the concert reviews posted on this site so I’d encourage you to check it out!

Also, it’s getting closer to September 21st!  Our first concert to promote will be held on that date in New Philadelphia, Ohio at the Kent State Performing Arts Center!  The artists we booked are the Mark Trammell Quartet, The Whisnants and Wilburn and Wilburn – it’s going to be a great night!  If you live in the area or know someone who does, why don’t you pass this info on?  You can read more about it at www.gmlconcerts.com !
