Father’s Day Tribute

Happy Father’s Day!

Today is a day that the United States of America and 60 other countries celebrate as Father’s Day ~ a day to honor your earthly father.  As I was writing out my “Father’s Day cards” to both my Dad and Grandpa, my thoughts quickly turned to those who may not be as fortunate as myself.  What about the orphans?  Or those whose fathers and husbands have passed away?  What about the many people who never knew their dads?  What about the broken homes that stretch across my nation and around the world?  Who do they celebrate?  What do they have to look forward to today?  A day of happiness for some, but most assured, a very tough day of sorrow for others… Father’s Day.

Yet, the Word of God extends an invitation to every individual in the whole world, that if they would accept and/or if they already know Jesus Christ as their personal Savior ~ there is a Heavenly Father who delights in showing blessings upon His children.  The Bible Commentator C. H. Mackintosh once wrote: “He enters into all our little trials and sorrows, conflicts and exercises, as though He had nothing else to think of.  Each one has the undivided attention and sympathy of that large, loving heart, in all that may rise in our passage through this scene of trial and sorrow.”  If today is tough for you to get through, or whether it is a day where you can call your dad up or get together with him for a meal and visit…these promises about our Heavenly Father are for everyone.

“A father of the fatherless, and a judge of the widows, is God in His holy habitation.”  -Psalm 68:5
~ our heavenly Father is One who cares for those who have lost their earthly fathers and spouses.

“For we have not a high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.  Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” – Hebrews 4:15-16 ~ our heavenly Father understands our earthy sorrows and encourages us to come to Him for grace.

“Of what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?  Of if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?  If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?” – Matthew 7:9-11
~ our heavenly Father is the giver of everything good!  All we have to do is ask Him!

“…and lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” – Matthew 28:20
~ our heavenly Father is omnipresent, meaning that He is everywhere, walking with His children every day.

Everyday, may we be able to lift up our eyes to heaven and say, “Lord, Happy Father’s Day.”
