The Latest

In honor of Father’s Day, I’d like to introduce you to some guests who have been very gracious to sit down and pen a few stories and words of encouragement for us this weekend.  To those Gospel music has ministered to, these father’s are no strangers!  The first is Nick Trammell, son of Mark and LaResa, husband of Jessica (Brown) Trammell and father of a beautiful little girl who is rapidly approaching her first birthday, Tessa Nicole!  I asked Nick to share with us what Father’s Day looks like through the eyes of a new parent.  I can’t wait for you to read what he’s shared!…

tessa2This time last year I was sitting in my living room with my contraction timer app going on my iphone, yes they have an app for that, thinking I could possibly become a father on Fathers Day. I drove Jessica crazy until she finally made me turn it off and just watch tv. It turned out to be false labor, but it was a day I will never forget. An agonizing 4 days later, more so for Jess, we got to lay eyes on our first child. She was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen. She looked just like me! All joking aside, it was at that moment I learned what unconditional love was. There is literally nothing that little girl can do throughout her entire life that would make me love her any less. It is an amazing feeling to be a father. It is an even more amazing feeling to for the first time understand how God feels about his children. We have all memorized the verse and recited it for years;

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16 KJV)

What a picture of love! I can honestly say there is not a person in this world I would give my child’s life for. I would also be pretty certain none of you would either. This Fathers Day, I challenge everyone to not only celebrate the lives of our earthly fathers, but to give thanks to our Heavenly Father for the love He has for us.
