The Latest

It has been quite some time since I’ve written a general post about what’s been happening lately and what new posts you can look forward to in the future.  Shall we play catch up?

First off, next Tuesday I’ll be taking part in a very special online event that has NEVER been done in Southern Gospel before!  For the first time, you will be able to…well, I can’t really tell you until Tuesday.  I promised to keep it a secret until it starts, so, will you come back and see what all the excitement is about?  I can guarantee you won’t want to miss it!

Until then, did you know that the Diamond Awards are officially open?  Yes, that’s right!  You can go vote for your favorite artist in categories such as: favorite album of the year, song of the year, quartet, trio and much more!  There are also some very special awards that an artist can only win once in a lifetime, so be sure to nominate your favorite if they‘re eligible!   Vote here.

Winter has sure made it’s splash over the last few months.  I have never seen so much ice and snow in Missouri in a very long time!  We normally get just enough to cover the ground, but since the first week in December anywhere from six to twelve inches has been the norm!  Where do you go to get away from the cold???  How about the Bahamas?  If you’ve taken a peek at the event counter ticking off the days at the top right hand of this page, you may have figured out that I’m going on the Singing at Sea this year!  I’m so excited!  I’ve never been on a cruise before…never been to the Bahamas before…come to think of it, never really been on a boat before…well, you get the picture!  It will be a true adventure and I’m looking forward to it immensely!

Today, an exciting change has occurred in the Southern Gospel Media world!  One of the most reliable websites in our genre, operated by Daniel Mount, has stepped out and announced a new name.  The well known site we have often visited for interviews, reviews, contests and more… Southern Gospel Blog is now Southern Gospel Journal.  Daniel explains, “’Blog’ was a cool term eight years ago, much like ‘social media’ is now.”  With the rapid advancement of technology, the terms and slang we associate with what’s ‘in’ now will eventually change too.  “Where ‘Blog’ feels increasingly dated,” Daniel continues, “‘Journal’ feels timeless, businesslike and professional.”  You can read more about this special announcement on Southern Gospel Journal HERE.

Well, that’s all for now!  Be sure to come back on Tuesday and see what “we” have planned for you!  It’s going to be fun!
