His Tomb Is Empty
Near Jerusalem there is a hallow grave,
Some believe it was the place our Lord was laid.
While others have declared, our Lord was never there,
But here I stand before you with the truth,
This One who lives inside is living proof.
His tomb is empty,
Out of the night there rose the day,
To be the Truth, the Light, the Way,
I know it’s empty,
The hands of death have lost their pull,
I know His tomb is empty cause my heart is full.
If there’s any question in your search divine,
It’s not in some subtle clue He left behind.
You won’t see it in the shroud, His Word declares it loud,
Though the change in me makes little sense,
My joy is overwhelming evidence.
It was first a speck of hope, but then became a beam,
Then shining forth the brightest light this world has ever seen!
Luke 24:3-5 – “And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus. And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments:And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead?”
There is much controversy concerning the fact of Jesus’ resurrection. Some believe that it didn’t happen at all, but this song brings up one of the most undefeated arguments of all time – if Christ is not risen, why does my heart have the hope that it does? If there is any proof that Christ is indeed living, does it not come from the millions of lives who have been changed through His mercy and grace? People don’t change their lifestyles for a dead god…they will only change for a Living One! Have you ever thought about what life would be like if the Savoir never rose from the dead? – He wouldn’t be the Savior of the world, would He? If He was not risen, we would have no salvation, no hope, no One to help carry our burdens, and no promise of eternal life with Him. Yet, we have all of these things plus more…because His tomb is empty! In our last post, He’s Alive, we saw how the disciples felt when the Lord died. They weren’t living a very victorious life, were they? But three days later, they all testified to seeing the Lord resurrected, and everything changed! The ones who were afraid of the Jews, became bold and were martyred for spreading the Gospel…cowards were turned into hero’s! Over what? A risen Savior ~ and a empty tomb!
