The Latest

busWe are all familiar with those nasty little critters called “June Bugs,” well, with all of the traveling we have been and are going to do, I feel like one of those little guys…crawling all over the place!  LOL  On June 1st I found myself in Springfield, TN with the Mark Trammell Quartet.  (BTW, the Bethlehem Baptist Church there in Springfield has quite the concert series lined up through the summer, so if you live close to that area and are looking for a concert to attend, check ‘em out!)  The very next day we drove up into Owensboro, Kentucky – caught up with some friends from the Steve Hurst School of Music and went to a Greater Vision concert!  (Their new songs are awesome live!)  But that’s not all we’re up too!  This weekend (if all goes as planned), we will drive down to Georgia for Karen Peck and New River’s Homecoming in Dahlonega.  Its one of those  sings where everyone brings a lawn chair and enjoys the great outdoors!  Along side our hosts Karen Peck and New River, Triumphant Quartet will appear on Friday night and Brian Free and Assurance on Saturday.  Upon arriving home from that trip, we’ll hurry up and pack our bags for the Memphis Quartet Show (MQS), where for the first time ever, I’ll get to be a part of a bus tour!  Doesn’t that sound fun?  We’ll be riding with Duane and Micki Garren of Monett and a lot of fellow quartet fans!  So how can you keep up with all of these travels?  Outside of this site, Twitter, Facebook and Socialcam are the best ways to do it!

What will be new on Lynn’s Chronicles in June?
Concert reviews, concert reviews, concert reviews!  We’ll be finishing up (what I’ve affectionately dubbed) the “May Madness SGM Mini-Marathon.”  (There was a weekend in May where we saw three different groups within two days of each other and I just had to give it a name!)  The last review will be of Brian Free and Assurance – the concert was on a Tuesday and it was Derrick’s last week with them.  After that you can expect another MTQ review and one of the Greater Vision concert, and then we’ll go right into how KPNR’s Homecoming was along with MQS…whew!  It never ends!  *wink*

GA2

Because I’ll be on the road Friday, the entry deadline for June’s give-a-way will extend to Tuesday the 18th.  This month we’re giving away another Christian fiction title, A City Not Forsaken by Lynn Morris and a CD from the Whisnants – Hymns and Harmony.  The winner will receive both these items!  Why not enter?  You could be this months winner!  Click HERE for more details!

FathersDay2

Father’s Day is just around the corner and I would like to share with you how we’re going to celebrate here on Lynn’s Chronicles.  There are some fathers who have been very gracious and agreed to write a devotional for us – I just received the first one a week ago and I can’t wait for you to read it!  Our guest writers are going to be Nick Trammell of the Mark Trammell Quartet (this year is little Tessa’s first Fathers Day), Chris Allman of Greater Vision and Brian Free of Brian Free and Assurance!  These inspirational columns will be posted June 13-15th – this weekend!  Be sure to drop by and give them your support!

Real News…
I’m very blessed to have some great friends at SGN Scoops who let me cover events for their magazine and I’m very eager to announce that their June issue is out!  Scoops is an online publication and viewing is FREE!  They have a lot of great articles this month and on page 49-51, you can read my thoughts on Singing in the Sun.  This story is completely different from any of the reviews I posted on this site for that event and I hope you’ll check it out HERE!

Now, I want to share some really exciting news with you!  You may or may not know that my sister, Candace, has built some of the finest (in my humble opinion 🙂 ) websites for groups like Brian Free and Assurance, Ivan Parker, Legacy Five, the Mark Trammell Quartet, Triumphant Quartet , The Perrys (and the list goes on!).  Anyway, she and I are now moving in the direction of promoting concerts and has partnered with James Lawson of Gospel Music Live (GML) – today we celebrate the official re-launch of GML and announce our first concert together!  The concert will take place on September 21st at the Kent State Performing Arts Center in New Philadelphia, Ohio.  The artists to appear will be the Mark Trammell Quartet, Wilburn and Wilburn and the Whisnants.  Doesn’t that sound like an awesome line-up?  You can take a peek at our promotional video below and the official press release at the end of this newsletter.  If you live in the New Philadelphia area or know someone who does that would be encouraged by this concert – tickets go on sale June 17th – we would LOVE to see you there!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Gospel Music Live Concert Series Re-launch

Akron, OH – June 10, 2013
When it comes to engaging web designs and marketing for the gospel music industry, many recognize the work of Candace Mills of Ex Nihilo Graphics. Candace has designed web and print materials for such note-able artists as Legacy Five, The Harper Agency, Triumphant Quartet, Brian Free & Assurance, The Perry’s, Ivan Parker, Mark Trammell Quartet and others. Now she has decided to get involved in the promotions aspect of Gospel Music by partnering with long time concert promoter – James Lawson of “Gospel Music Live” who this year celebrated “22 years” with his Gospel Music Live concert series.

Mr. Lawson promoted his very first Southern Gospel concert forty years ago, featuring JD Sumner and the Stamps Quartet, the LeFevres and the Rhythm Masters Quartet. He was also the first promoter in the area to start Christian Dinner Concerts at the Kaufman Center in Hartville, OH. Over the past two decades James has had the opportunity of working with just about every major group and with many Gospel Music legends. Following a brief repose to focus on health, James returns to the world of Southern Gospel music on a full-time basis, this time joined by Candace. You have heard the saying – “two are better than one,” so together they will re-launch a new era of family & inspirational “event promotions” with some of the top names in Gospel and Christian music.

Their first joint efforts will take place Saturday, September 21 in the heart of Amish country at the state of the art Kent State Performing Arts Center, New Philadelphia, Ohio. Easily accessible from State Route 250 and Interstate 77, the Performing Arts Center boasts free and convenient parking. The centerpiece of this building is the 1,100-seat theater with a mezzanine level. A very interesting feature of the balcony level is that the arms of the balcony start at the upper level and descend to connect to the stage level. The Gospel Music Live re-launch concert event will feature a stellar line-up of Singing News FavoritesThe Whisnants, The Mark Trammell Quartet and Wilburn & Wilburn. Danny Jones of Singing News will be the guest emcee for this special event.

Be sure to come bask in the contemporary elegance of this fabulous auditorium as we gather together to celebrate with this powerful line-up of artists!
Three groups. One incredible night. Tickets go on sale June 17th.
