“Will Our Generation Speak” by Grace Mally was given to me as a Christmas present from my best friend and I was very blessed by reading it. Grace, a young Christian lady in her twenties writes why it is important for this generation to be bold in their witness for Christ. Through seventeen chapters, she gives examples from her own experience, practical advice and encouragement on how to share your faith with people of all ages and backgrounds.
What drew me in to this book was Grace’s writing style – from the first sentence I was hooked! Her writing style is easy to read, humble and captivating. As I read, it felt like I was having a conversation with her instead of merely reading words on a page. Grace explains her beliefs and techniques clearly and from a Biblical perspective with Scripture to back it up.
The second thing I really love about this book is how Grace gives you practical tools that show you how to witness instead of just telling you that you need to spread the Gospel. She shares “do’s and don’ts” from her personal experience and growth from witnessing, and draws on previous conversations to help you understand what people may say or think when sharing the Gospel with them. For example, chapter thirteen is titled “Seventeen Ways to Start a Conversation” and chapter ten walks you through how to handle scenarios when people aren’t open or receptive to what you’re sharing. I thought it was especially helpful how Grace explained that we are just the messengers – our job is to deliver the message – not make people accept it; we shouldn’t feel like we failed when people aren’t interested in hearing about the Gospel.
Another thing I really like about “Will Our Generation Speak” is how Grace encourages young people to witness because of our age. In one chapter, she shows how being young is a help and not a hindrance to sharing Jesus, which I think would be a great encouragement to younger people if they were to hear it!
If you’re looking for a book on evangelism or witnessing, I would highly recommend this volume as your “starter” book to lay a solid foundation. You will be encouraged by what Grace has to say while learning easy, basic ways to get started. It is obvious from reading Grace’s experiences that witnessing is something she does a lot in her hometown, and to me, that means you can trust the advice she gives, knowing it is effective. If more people (of all ages!) would get a hold of a book like this and really take in what it says, they would be equipped to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ in a friendly, non-offensive way and impact the world for Christ! I can’t say enough good things about “Will Our Generation Speak!” Highly recommended!
I read the paperback version of this book, published by Tomorrow’s Forefathers, Inc. and is 280 pages in length.
