There is a distinct feeling you get when you do something for the first time.  Maybe your heart thumps a little quicker or your hands sweat.  It’s not that the thing is scary, it could actually be very exciting, but knowing that the task is at hand can be both exhilarating and something that makes your heart skip a beat.  It’s not in the future any more…it’s here.

I recognized that feeling while riding in the hotel shuttle to the Nashville International Airport last week.  As we whizzed by the Thomas Nelson Publishing Co. I couldn’t believe that my sister and I were going to board a plane and fly to Florida that day.  That day!  Not the next day or the day after…but that day!  What were we going to Florida for?  We were going to step on a ship called The Fascination and sail away on our very first all Christian cruise – Singing at Sea.  This is a “first” I’ll never forget!

For those who follow me on Twitter and FaceBook, you’ve probably figured out that this was also my first time flying too!  (And yes, I do question whether or not the pilot had full control of that bird when it landed!)  Anyway…

100_9519With 25 artists planning to get on the boat the next morning, you can guarantee that there were concerts in Jacksonville the night before…so we flew to Florida a day early.  (For an extra concert – who wouldn’t?)  😉  Thus, Sunday evening we attended the West Jacksonville Baptist Church, Monday we sailed for the Bahamas and the rest is history!  We had a great time.  It was an awesome experience, one, I hope to repeat!

I’m so excited to share my first “ship adventure” with you through a series of blog posts that will chronicle the cruise day by day.  I’ll talk about the ports, the singing and all the gourmet food!  Together, we’ll stroll the decks and find our sea legs!  You can also look forward to a review of the concert we attended the night before (the cruise) in West Jacksonville with the Mark Trammell Quartet.

Speaking of MTQ, I also want to thank everyone who participated in the Blog Tour!  If you enjoyed the interviews and sneak peeks into our favorite songs from the album, you may want to check out the CD reviews that Brian and Aaron have written on Your Walk Talks!  (Click on their names to go check it out!)  My review of Your Walk Talks will be posted on February 27th!

The remaining days of February look like they’re going to be filled with snowy days and frigid temperatures.  Though, at the end of the month we’ll be going to the Truthseekers’ Homecoming in Marion, Illinois!  It will be our third year to attend and I can’t put into words how much I love this Gospel Sing!  Last year we had to miss one of the three days due to icy roads but I hope and pray that won’t be the case this year.  Out of all the places we’ve been and plan on going in the future, this is one of my favorites!  The line-up this year is Greater Vision and the Mark Trammell Quartet, Brian Free and Assurance with Ivan Parker, Triumphant and the Whisnants.  It’s going to be great!

Until next time!
Lynn
